Recap of the Spring 2016 Fishery

The 2016 season began with a spring run mullet fishery. Lake Winnipeg got started late in May; other regions launched on their regular start dates. Overall, deliveries were close to 3 million kilograms, which is a 185,000 kilogram increase compared to the same time period in 2015.

From a species perspective, some regions were up and others were down in deliveries. In general, pickerel, mullet, perch, cutter whitefish and carp deliveries rose. Export lake whitefish, sauger and northern pike deliveries were down.

Thanks to fishers for producing a very good quality of fish received at the plant !
