Meet the new Board Members

During my time at Freshwater I have worked closely with the Board of Directors. There have been several people appointed to the Board over the years. This spring, two new individuals were appointed. Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to Freshwater’s latest Board members.

Trevor Sprague became a Chartered Accountant in 1997 and is a Tax Partner with Meyers Norris Penny LLP, where he advises both publicly-traded and privately-held enterprises covering a variety of industries, including agri-business. He is one of his firm's national knowledge leaders in accounting for income taxes for the purpose of financial reporting.

Trevor graduated with a BA (Honours Business Administration) from the University of Western Ontario in 1994. He has been engaged in public affairs as a volunteer for over 25 years, most notably as past Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. He is also the Honourary Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee of St. John's-Ravenscourt School in Winnipeg.

Trevor has been selected by Freshwater’s Board of Directors to serve as the Chair of its Audit and Risk Committee.

Vincent Crate comes from a fishing family in Fisher River, and has been involved in the industry from an early age. He has earned community college diplomas in business and landscape management.

Vince is a commercial fisher and board member with the Macbeth Fisheries Corporation. He also served as a member of council for Fisher River for eight years. Some of the portfolios he was responsible for during that time were: Health, Economic Development, Education, Housing, Justice, Child and Family Services and Natural Resources (fishing, farming and forestry).

I am looking forward to learning more about these new Board members, working with them to maximize returns to fishers. If you want to learn more about the other sitting members of the Board, you can read their profiles.
